#750114 San Frederico Asistencia  When the Spanish came to California, bent on establishing Spanish control and Catholicism, They established 21 Missions from the border near San Diego to north of San Francisco. In many areas, the Natives were numerous enough to establish an outpost - Asistencia. It's like a small mission, usually without a resident priest, but still employing farming, brewing and the destruction of Native American heritage. The Asistencia San Frederico as far as I know, was not one of them, but I patterned the plaque as a compilation of several mission buildings.  The name was chosen because this may be as close to sainthood as I ever get! It's a wall-hung piece 12 by 12 inches, and 2" from the wall at the porch roof.
